The upstairs unit in a customer’s home was having an evaporator problem that resulted in a leak coming through the person’s downstairs ceiling. Luckily, she called us before any substantial damage had occurred. We found that ice had formed on the evaporator because of a lack of refrigerant. When the evaporator freezes, it will thaw once the air conditioner is turned off. When this cycle repeats itself continually it will eventually cause a leak. One way to keep this from happening is by having regular maintenance performed on your unit. At Jones, we can perform a thorough inspection that will include recharging refrigerant if necessary.
